We use laughing gas at Kids Dental Studio. It is nitrous oxide inhaled through a mask over the child’s nose. It makes the child more comfortable but they remain conscious to answer questions during the procedure.
Is laughing gas at Kids Dental Studio safe for children?
Yes, laughing gas is considered one of the safest sedation options for kids. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states it’s safe for kids. We evaluate your child’s health before recommending it to be safe.
What are the benefits of using laughing gas?
Laughing gas has many benefits, especially for children. It works fast but also has a quick recovery. There are minimal side effects. Children don’t feel lasting effects.
What side effects may occur from laughing gas?
Some children may experience mild nausea or a headache afterward. Side effects pass quickly.
How does Kids Dental Studio bring kids out of laughing gas?
The mask is removed and the child starts to breathe room air, which quickly brings them out of the laughing gas drowsiness. We sometimes use oxygen to bring them out of their conscious sleep. Effects wear out quickly.
What does a child feel like under laughing gas?
Children often feel relaxed, warm, and may sense tingling in their arms or legs. They drift between light sleep and awareness. They won’t have much memory of the procedure.
How does laughing gas compare to other sedation options?
Laughing gas is the mildest sedative of all the options. It is the safest for children and it’s easier to bring children out from it compared to other types of sedation.
What should parents know before their child uses laughing gas at Kids Dental Studio?
Parents will need to give consent. The child’s health will be evaluated first to confirm safety. We will need to know about any health conditions or medication.
